Hello, friend. How are you? It’s been a while since
we last talked about anything that really matters.
I know that time flies. That “someday” we keep
promising ourselves keeps hiding just behind the next
anything that we can find to work our way to peace of mind.
We’ve never found it yet. Don’t forget that

everything you do adds up to less than you.
There’s so much more to see—so much more to love.
If you could take a step outside your shell of doubt,
you’d love you like I do. It’s true:
I don’t know how you don’t see
all the things that make me proud to know you.

Yes, it’s great to think of nothing but the coffee:
dark and rich for you, mine with milk and amaretto.
What is it that we think we have to hide from?
What are we ashamed of? We punched out hours ago.
“Yes,” I say, “I know, I see, that things get done and humans be.
But peace is hard to find.” Then you remind me:
